Here is the link to the article where Google announced its latest updates. Below are some key points with my brief comments. 😉
At the beginning, Google refers to its Fighting Scams on Search .report (Sounds a lot fancier than it is, considering it’s only two pages.). The key takeaways from it are:
However, Google still emphasizes that the tactics used by scammers are constantly evolving, and it must stay ahead of them. Such initiatives are very encouraging. From our experience, we also see an increased activity of cybercriminals and hackers, e.g., on WordPress-based websites. This is confirmed by various statistics and reports, including the latest weekly Wordfence Intelligence report on WordPress vulnerabilities (April 28, 2025 – May 4, 2025). This all highlights the importance of using effective protective measures.
If you would like to verify the security level of your website, let us know. We offer a cybersecurity audit service for WordPress, and our developers have vast experience in this area.
But back to Google — in its latest announcement, the company doesn’t stop at search; it’s also implementing improvements in its browser to fight scams.
Important note here: Google first released Enhanced Safe Browsing in 2020, but this feature is only available in the Business Standard and Business Plus versions of Google Workspace. So, if you’re getting excited to enable it, be prepared to meet a broken robot.

And what about Android?
It’s worth remembering that cybercriminals also use notifications – how many times have we visited a website and been bombarded with pop-ups, often with some enticing CTA offering a prize or a huge discount on the latest iPhone? 😉 Well, the AI model built into Chrome on Android devices is designed to detect such scammy notifications and send you a warning.
Additionally, Android recently launched AI-powered fraud detection in text messages (SMS) and phone calls to protect against these types of scams.
And that’s great – thanks to artificial intelligence, Google can effectively identify and block fraudulent content across various services like search, Chrome, and Android, providing users with a higher level of security. Here’s hoping for more initiatives like this, Google!
