What Are Auction Insights in Google Ads?
Auction insights are used to monitor how your ads perform in the search network compared to your competitors.
The auction insights report is available exclusively for search campaigns and shopping campaigns with a participation rate of at least 10% in impressions.
The metrics available for analysis include:
- impression share: The percentage of impressions your ads received compared to the total number of impressions they were eligible for,
- overlap rate: How often your ads and a competitor’s ads were shown at the same time,
- position above rate: How often your ad was shown in a higher position than a competitor’s ad,
- top of page rate: How often your ad was shown at the top of the search results page,
- absolute top of page rate: How often your ad was shown as the very first ad at the top of the search results page,
- outranking share: How often your ad ranked higher in the auction than your competitor’s ad, or if your ad showed when theirs did not.
The availability of these metrics depends on the type of campaign—whether it is a text ad campaign or a shopping campaign.
