In December 2024, Google Merchant Center introduced a new feature allowing advertisers to offer discounts on first-time orders for new customers. You can find this feature under Add-ons > Promotions (this functionality is available only in selected countries – more details can be found at this link).
Currently, labels indicating such discounts, marked as “First order,” appear in Google Shopping ads within search results.
What Does this Mean for You?
This feature allows you to create promotions specifically targeted at new customers. As a result, you can increase the chances of first-time users making a purchase in your store. In Google Merchant Center, you can set a percentage discount, minimum purchase value, and maximum discount amount, helping you protect your profit margins. This strategy can be an effective way to attract new customers to your store.
Some accounts now have the option to add multiple website links in a single ad. These links will appear just below the image/video, and each one can direct users to different landing pages tailored to the ad content.
