What is Internet Explorer? – Definition

Internet Explorer is a free web browser, developed by an American company Microsoft. Its first version was released on 16 April 1995.  It is the fourth most popular browser worldwide with 5.45% of users in April 2020.

Internet Explorer 11, the final version of the web browser, was officially launched in 2013. However, in 2015 it was replaced by Microsoft Edge and since then Edge has been Microsoft’s official browser for Windows. Internet Explorer is still included with Windows 10 and available for download from the Microsoft website.
