What Is Google Analytics 4 (GA4)?
Google Analytics 4 or GA4 is a solution by Google that collects and displays crucial data about visitors to your website. Formerly known as Universal Analytics, it’s highly customizable, enabling you to define key business events you want to measure and extract vital information about aspects, such as:
- conversions,
- channels from which users come to your website,
- user behavior on your website,
- and many more.

How Does Google Analytics 4 Work?
Google Analytics relies on event-based data (rather than session-based like Universal Analytics). It identifies separate users via their Google Accounts, search behaviors, device data, IP and search patterns. When implemented into a website, it collects information about the users who enter your website, starting from the channel from which they accessed your site, ending at their behavior until the end of their session. You can view, juxtapose and analyze this data in the GA4 interface. GA4 works both for SEO (for instance, to verify whether your blog generates leads/sales) and for SEM (to discover how users interact with your website after clicking your ads).
