What is HTTPS? – Definition

HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) is an extension of HTTP that includes SSL or TLS encryption. Owing to the protocol, the data transmitted is not intercepted or changed. This results in increased security of online transactions and restriction of access of unauthorized users to data stored on the site. That is why this protocol is very often used on the websites of banks, online stores, and other websites requiring registration or introducing personal data.
